You have likely seen on the news that there is a national crisis in NHS dental care. Due to years of underfunding and an NHS dental contract that isn’t fit for purpose, many dentist and practices are choosing to leave the NHS.
We do not want that to happen at Upton Dental Practice!
Having looked after all our lovely patients for over 30 years we are committed to maintain our NHS status, so that you can continue to receive the care you want and deserve.
To allow us to keep our NHS service running we have decided to make the following changes to how we operate:
Currently we are unable to take on any more new NHS patients
Post-COVID we are still so busy, and we are trying our best to reduce waiting times for appointments.
Routine scale and polishes with the Hygienist will now be private
If you clinically need a scale and polish, your dentist can do this for you, but in cases of very poor cleaning it will be expected that you improve this before the teeth are scaled. If you suffer from gum disease and the dentist refers you to the hygienist for periodontal treatment, this will be carried out under an NHS band 2 charge. The summary of charges will be as follows:
· Scale and polish - £59
· Air flow power cleaning - £90
· NHS periodontal treatment - Band 2 Charge - £65.20 (to be repeated at 3 monthly follow up)
NHS posterior fillings and crowns will be silver
Again we have always tried to be very generous and offered white crowns on the NHS, however this is no longer possible. The charges for molar restorations are as follows:
· NHS amalgam filling - Band 2 Charge - £65.20
· NHS silver crown – Band 3 Charge - £282.80
· Private white filling (composite) - £150 – 350
· Private white crown/onlay - £500-650
We hope that you understand that these changes are needed to keep the practice going in the current climate, and allow us to keep the people of Upton smiling!
